Low carbohydrate diet and all cause and cause-specific mortality

چکیده
BackgroundEvidence is limited regarding the association between low-carbohydrate diet (LCD) score and mortality among Asians, a population that consumes large amount of carbohydrates.ObjectiveThe present study examined (based on percentage energy as carbohydrate, fat, protein) risk total cause-specific Asians.DesignThis was prospective cohort in Japan with follow-up for median 16.9 years involving 43008 men 50646 women aged 45–75 years. Association LCD score, based animal sources protein plant fat assessed using Cox proportional hazards model.ResultsA U-shaped observed mortality: multivariable-adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) (95% CI) lowest through highest scores were 1.00, 0.95 (0.91, 1.01), 0.93 (0.88, 0.98), 1.01 (0.95, 1.07) (P-non-linearity <0.01). Low-Carbohydrate Diets and All-Cause Mortality: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies
OBJECTIVE Low-carbohydrate diets and their combination with high-protein diets have been gaining widespread popularity to control weight. In addition to weight loss, they may have favorable short-term effects on the risk factors of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Our objective was to elucidate their long-term effects on mortality and CVD incidence. DATA SOURCES MEDLINE, EMBASE, ISI Web of Scien...
متن کاملDepression, cardiac mortality and all-cause mortality
Depression is an illness that kills. The links between depression and medical illness are well established and bi-directional, but evidence is mounting that depression increases mortality as well as morbidity in adults, particularly older adults. We examine the evidence that the increase in mortality in depression applies to all-cause mortality as well as cardiac mortality, and describe plausib...
متن کاملPersonal Mastery and All-Cause Mortality among Older Americans Living with Diabetes
Introduction: Higher personal mastery is associated with better physical functioning, wellbeing, and longevity among older populations. However, few studies have focused on whether personal mastery is protective against mortality among older adults living with diabetes over time. Methods: A total of 1,779 participants were identified from an off-year survey of the Health and Retirement Study....
متن کاملHeat waves and cause-specific mortality at all ages.
BACKGROUND Mortality has been shown to increase with extremely hot ambient temperatures. Details on the specific cause of mortality can be useful for improving preventive policies. Infants are often identified as a population that is vulnerable to extreme heat conditions; however, information on heat and infant mortality is scarce, with no studies reporting on cause-specific mortality. METHOD...
متن کاملWeight History and All-Cause and Cause-Specific Mortality in Three Prospective Cohort Studies.
Background The relationship between body mass index (BMI) and mortality is controversial. Objective To investigate the relationship between maximum BMI over 16 years and subsequent mortality. Design 3 prospective cohort studies. Setting Nurses' Health Study I and II and Health Professionals Follow-Up Study. Participants 225 072 men and women with 32 571 deaths observed over a mean of 12...
